Autumn is one of the best seasons to explore Alanya by car. The summer traffic is gone, the weather is mild and the mountains behind the coast turn golden. With a rental car you are free to leave whenever you like, stop wherever the view is good and come back when it suits you.
Why rent a car in autumn?
From late October onwards the roads along the coast are much quieter, and parking near beaches and sights is easier to find. Many visitors also like to combine a few relaxed beach mornings with afternoon drives into the Taurus Mountains, something that is hard to do with fixed tour times.

Choosing the right car

Driving tips for Turkish roads
- Traffic drives on the right. The main coastal road through Alanya is the D400.
- Speed limits are checked by cameras, so follow the signs carefully.
- At many petrol stations an attendant fills the tank for you – just tell them the fuel type and amount.
- Mountain roads, for example towards the Dim River or Sapadere Canyon, are narrow and winding. Drive slowly and use your horn before blind bends.
- In November it gets dark early and the first rain showers can make roads slippery, so plan to be back before sunset.
Easy day trips by car
The Dim River valley with its riverside restaurants is only a short drive from the centre. Ancient Side and the Manavgat Waterfall are roughly an hour to the west, while the quiet beaches around Gazipaşa lie to the east.
